Shanghai -- PPStream Inc., one of China's most popular online video services, has scored a major contract with China Central Television to broadcast the 2008 Olympic Games.

Throughout the 2008 Olympic Games, PPS.TV will simultaneously broadcast all 2008 Olympic matches to an estimated 100 million viewers through its proprietary media player software network. The partnership is the first of its kind. To date, no other Olympic Games has been fully broadcasted on the Internet through both live and on-demand formats.

PPStream has raised an undisclosed amount of funding from Ceyuan Ventures, LG Investments and Qiming Venture Partners.

"This is a very important content relationship," Qiming Managing Director John Zagula said. "There are not only tangible metrics of viewership, but the intangible metrics of the Olympics as a media event and as a national event for China."

PPS.TV now has more than 3,000 channels provided to a total installation of more than 350 million users, including more than 10 million daily active users and more than 100 million monthly active users. The site experiences 60 billion minutes of viewership monthly.
